It is sooooo hot here! We are just melting! We drip
24 hours a day!
We bagged beans & rice a lot today and then we went to the orphanage
for the "sock hop." We took the older orphans to eat at Jerry's
Hotel - a buffet - and they ate so much food! They seemed to really
enjoy it.
The girls were so funny. They were very shy about putting on the skirts,
blouses, and scarves that we gave them. We tried to dance 50's music
with them, but they prefered their Haitian CD's. They started having
fun then. After the dancing, we split the girls from the boys and had
separate devotions with them. Some real deep conversations and questions
were raised regarding boy/girl relationships and we used interpreters
for the entire time. We felt the evening was well worth all of the
planning.
We just got back on the truck. It is so dark outside (no electricity),
but people were outside everywhere.
It was pretty amazing.
We are planning to go to Voo Doo Mountain tomorrow morning for church
and we plan to pass our 100 20 lb.
bags of rice. Larry Owen, our missionary, is not feeling well and we
may have to postpone our trip to another day. We won't know until tomorrow
morning.
