Today was lots of fun. Most of us went to Tortuga on the "Jesus Boat". It was a beautiful day and I got a nice sunburn - even with 45 sunscreen on. The Haitian men carry you on their shoulders to get you out to the boat. It costs two Haitian dollars for the shoulder ride. Then - they beg for more. Oh brother. No one got sick on the boat so that was really good news. We chugged down the motion sickness medicine prior to the trip so that probably helped.
We did VBS on the island. Toby did the lesson on fishing lures and
the kids really paid attention. We sang songs with them and gave them
a sack lunch. Then we went swimming with them on the rocky beach. This
island should be named the island of naked boys.
There is no modesty on that island. We had a great trip. We were worried
about Toby, but he did fine.
He was so thrilled to have the experience.
We all started bagging beans & rice today. Scott, Maxine, and Donna bagged all morning while we were at Tortuga. We are still finishing up on the rice tonight and have more bagging to do tomorrow. Scott said he got in trouble for breaking child labor laws over here (he had small Haitian children helping with the bagging). Of course, he is teasing. These kids here work like adults only better. They never quit and they never get tired. Amazing.
We are all well and are looking forward to another full day tomorrow.
